March of the 151st R.I.

The 151st RI at the Yser Canal in 1914, drawn by Yves Perera l'Yser

Each regiment had its own marching song, normally accompanied by a brash ensemble of horns and drums (especially snares). Below are the lyrics to the "March of the 151st Infantry Regiment."

Instrumental version can be found on YouTube here.

[Refrain]

Fils de forgerons de la victoire
Nous saurons dans les futurs combats
Offrir nos pointrines à la gloire
En répétant on ne passe pas.

[Refrain Dernier]

English translation:

March of the 151st Infantry Regiment

They've left Verdun proudly
Calm, grave at the hour of pandemonium
On the entire flag of France
They've sworn that none will pass.

[Refrain]
It's the one hundred and fifty-one
Which is never afraid of anything
On the signal it throws itself forward
Our fine regiment
Drums, horns sound off
Join the canons
Make the bronze hearts resonate
Of the one hundred and fifty-one.

And the vets face the gunfire
Magnificent, braving death
Have proved well in a myriad of battles
To the enemy that none will pass.

[Refrain]

Sons forged in victory
We know in future battles
To offer our chests to glory
Repeating, none will pass.

[Last Refrain]
